These great players defined the game. They continued and enhanced the tradition started by the likes of Bobby Jones and Ben Hogan. Arnold Palmer came when television started and made the game very popular. Jack came and gave Arnold the rivalry. Gary came and made the game international. Social Golf by Social Golfers
Arnold Palmer is known as "The King". His wins were spectacular, his losses were just as spectacular. Beside the magnificent performance record, his magnetic personality and unfailing sense of kindness and thoughtfulness to everybody with whom he comes in contact have endeared him to millions throughout the world. This led to the informal formation of the largest non-uniformed "military" organization in existence - Arnie's Army. Rather than swinging the club, Arnie tended to hit the ball as hard as he can, resulting in his unique follow-through.
Jack Nicklaus is "The Golden Bear". Loved by all, but not always. Early in his career, when he was trying to beat Arnold, he was known as "Fat Jack".

He is regarded by many to be the greatest professional golfer of all time. Nicklaus, holds the record for the most victories in major championships, which Tiger is currently chasing. At age 46, he won his last and final major by winning the 1986 US Masters.

His book Golf My Way is considered one of the best instructional golf books of all time. This book is how some of the current best golfers first learned to play the game.
Gary Player is "The Black Knight". The international player before the word international was used for a golfer. The Dark Knight well before Batman. He was the third man (after Gene Sarazen and Ben Hogan) to win the four majors. His competitions with Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer showcased the sport being played at its highest level.
