Social Golf Concentrate Post US Masters (subEagle)

FredCouples	If Fred Couples won the US Masters, what a story that would have been. It would have been another confirmation how timeless the game truly is. It would have caused mature and not so mature golfers to play more and teach their young ones the tradition and history of the game. It was not to be.
K.J. Choi	If KJ Choi won the US Masters, what a story that would have been. It would have exploded the golfers in the whole of Asia, especially coming after last year’s win by Y.E. Yang. It may even have a huge effect on the players competing in the coming Olympics. It was not to be.
Lee Westwood	If Lee Westwood won the US Masters, what a story that would have been. It would have lifted the pall of doom and gloom from English sports. It would have given the English sportswriters and columnists a rare chance to gloat. It would have been hilarious and annoying but at the same time, amusing. It was not to be.
Tiger	If Tiger won the US Masters, that would have been inter-galactic. People would have been watching all the highlights and the replays. Women would have been indignant that such a person should be allowed to win. Men would have been all confused about the reactions of the women. It would have seriously challenged society’s moral balance.
A.K.	If A.K. won the US Masters, what a story that would have been. The emerging bad-boy of golf to win a Major would have silenced the game’s critics who question the game because 40-somethings and 50-somethings are still contending. The critics who think that for a game to be considered a sport, it can only be played by people while they are in their late teens to late 20’s.
Phil	But since Phil won, it has become a non-event. This is akin to the Titanic docking at New York and not sinking. Wife and mother with cancer and the suffering but supporting husband winning a special tournament, due mainly to the strength that he gets from the stricken loved ones.
Moving On	Let’s move on to the US Open in 17-20 June. It is at Pebble Beach and this is the fifth time that it will host a US Open. Mark O’Meara has won 5 PGA tournaments here. None of them were US Open. Tom Watson made the greatest golf shot in the world in beating Jack Nicklaus for the US Open championship. Jack Nicklaus played his last US Open here.
